Transformation starts with the inner life

· Transformation,Leadership,Change

And do not be conformed to this world [any longer with its superficial values and customs], but be transformed and progressively changed [as you mature spiritually] by the renewing of your mind [focusing on godly values and ethical attitudes], so that you may prove [for yourselves] what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect [in His plan and purpose for you]. - Romans 12, 2 (AMP)

Transformation is a buzzword in business - the transformation of organizations, business models, culture, as well as digital transformation are well-known examples. In my company, I'm currently responsible for leading the strategy development process. We have redesigned our strategy completely and are now in the rollout and transformation phase. It's exciting. But it also requires developing new perspectives in times of change and challenging established views of life which can cause tensions, insecurity and fear.

So, what does God think about transformation? Romans 12,2 is one of my favorite Bible verses. The Greek word used here for 'transformed' comes from 'Metamorphosis' which refers to the process leading to an outward, permanent change. Such as from caterpillar to butterfly.

When God transforms, He always brings us to a different level. A new status. From servant to friend. From a spirit of slavery (control, manipulation) to a spirit of adoption as His sons & daughters. From an old way of thinking to a new one. From insignificance to purpose. Sometimes this happens radically, however usually it takes a longer period of time. God is desperately interested in our fundamental personal transformation and spiritual maturity. And His goal is a long-term inner transformation, which will then lead to outer transformation in our leadership role and business.
