In line with God's thinking

· Transformation,Vision,Change

A man's mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must, and will, bring forth. If no useful seeds are put into it, then an abundance of useless weed seeds will fall therein, and will continue to produce their kind. - James Allen

In the last couple of weeks, it felt like either God wasn't speaking to me (which I know is not true) or I couldn't hear what He is saying. My own creative ideas didn't bring fruit. It felt like running alone, without God on my side. So I started arguing with God: "You know these ideas aren't bad ideas, therefore I suggest that I already move forward and you can decide when to join...". He didn't. I neither got His confirmation nor revelation. The ideas didn't fly (yet). My typical human reaction in these situations is to get frustrated about God and start complaining and begging like "God, can't you just come and please do something?" This 'something' which I think is best for me. - Usually, it takes some days (and some good advice from my wife) to turn around, get back from this trip of disappointment, and ask God to share His vision, thoughts and ideas with me.

I wasn't using the 'power of alignment'. When our ideas, dreams, or actions don't bear fruit then often our thinking isn't aligned with God's thinking. That could mean that our ideas aren't in accordance with His plan or vision for our life, or simply that the timing isn't right (yet). I believe that the power of alignment with Holy Spirit is a key principle in the Kingdom of Heaven. Working together with Holy Spirit will give us the ability to find out God's desire for us, let wisdom enter our life and help us transform our thinking. The secret is not to persist in our viewpoints but to choose the right seeds (as described by James Allen in the quote above), move forward and learn to grow on the way.

In John 15, Jesus talks about the importance of remaining in Him in order to bear fruit: 'Stay joined to me, and I will stay joined to you. Just as a branch cannot produce fruit unless it stays joined to the vine, you cannot produce fruit unless you stay joined to me.' - John 15,4 (CEV). Everything else is in vain and will lead us the wrong way. I like the concept of 'incubating' a dream or an idea in agreement with the movement of the Holy Spirit. When there is an exchange of thoughts between God and us, clarity and transparency will come, ideas will mature and new ideas burst out. This kind of incubation isn't something we naturally do, but it will eventually bear fruit and success.

Prompt: Does your life bring fruit? How well is your thinking aligned with God's plan, desire and purpose for your life?
